چکیده
Introduction: Bioactive glass (BAG) is increasingly used in dentistry, aiming to provide superior mechanical properties, optimal chemical stability, and favorable antimicrobial activity the oral environment. This study aimed measure flexural strength (FS) of resin-modified ionomer (RMGI) cement containing 58S nano-BAG. Materials Methods: In this vitro study, 0wt (Weight) %, 10wt%, 20wt%, 30wt% nano-BAG particles were added RMGI powder groups 1 4, respectively (n=10). Forty specimens fabricated metal molds (2 x 25 2 mm), their FS was measured by using a three-point bending test at crosshead speed 0.5 mm/min. The antibacterial materials against Streptococcus mutants assessed disc diffusion test. addition abovementioned experimental groups, one control group (n=10) 100% BAG also considered. Data analyzed one-way ANOVA Tukey’s Results: mean (± standard deviation) 38.71±8.84, 43.61±17.34, 45.62±15.89, 54.71±14.25 MPa respectively. No significant difference noted among (P=0.06). A found diameter growth inhibition zone (P<0.05), 4 showed minimal bacterial growth. Conclusion: 20wt% did not significantly change but inhibited

Flexural strength and morphological characteristics of resin-modified glass-ionomer containing bioactive glass.
INTRODUCTION Recent advances in dental materials have led to the production of smart materials. Recently, addition of bioactive materials to glass-ionomer cements has resulted in new capabilities beyond the beneficial effects of fluoride release. This in vitro study compared the flexural strengths (FS) of a resin-modified glass-ionomer containing bioactive glass (RMGIBAG) with that of a commonl...
متن کاملEffect of Incorporation of Nano-Hydroxyapatite and Nano-Zinc Oxide in Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement on Metal Bracket Debonding
Background and Aim: Use of fluoride releasing materials to decrease the risk of demine-ralization around orthodontic brackets would be reasonable as an adhesive for bracket bonding only if they provide acceptable shear bond strength (SBS). The aim of this study was to evaluate the SBS of resin-modified glass ionomer cements (RMGICs) modified by nano-zinc oxide (NZnO) and nano- hydroxyapatite (N...
متن کاملAntibacterial effect of morphous (poly-crystalline) and amorphous (glass) nano-bioactive glass 45S5 on Streptococcus mutans
Objective: Bioactive glass 45S5 is a surface reactive glass-ceramic biomaterial, developed in 1969. BAG 45S5 with particle size of 20-60 nm has the ability of bone regeneration, broad spectrum antibacterial effect, repairs and replaces diseased or damaged bone. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial activity and determine MIC and MBC values of nano-BAG45S5 on Streptococcus mu...
متن کاملThe effect of adding bioactive glass on the fluoride release of resin-modified glass-ionomer cement in simulated body fluid
Glass ionomer cements (GICs) originally designed for use as dental materials have a number of advantages over acrylic bone cements. These include nonexothermic setting reaction with no thermal damage to surrounding tissues, minimal shrinkage during gelation, the possibility of incorporation drugs and growth factors within the cement and the ability to release fluoride. It is already known that ...
متن کاملComparative evaluation of antibacterial effect and compressive strength of resin-modified glass-ionomer containing different antibiotics
Background and Aims: Nowadays, new techniques are used to control dental caries that have the ability to kill cariogenic bacteria. Recently, the addition of antibiotics to glass ionomers has been proposed to reduce the overall number of saliva bacteria. The aim of this study was to compare the antimicrobial effect and compressive strength of resin- modified glass ionomer (RMGI) containing diffe...
